Como Lily

This mosaic is my interpretation of a photograph taken by my friend, Dean Bolt at Como Park in St. Paul, Minnesota. I was drawn to the varied shapes and colors of the lily pads and the vibrancy of the flower at center stage. I chose to work in stained glass to best capture the glossy and watery surfaces. I worked in the double indirect method, using white thin set and a mix of gray grouts. Special thanks to Dean (@deanbbolt) for allowing me to render his beautiful photo in the mosaic medium.
