Guns Across America

Guns Across America, 2-D Mosaic
Guns Across America
This work was inspired by the repeated mass shootings in the United States, culminating in the racist Buffalo and Uvalde massacres in the summer of 2022. The 4th of July Highland Park, Chicago, sniper-style shooting that year was the ultimate inspiration for the American flag design. It has embedded symbols of the instruments of death and the targeted victims, and the potential long-term impact across the country. It is meant to be descriptive, not political. The materials include Italian smalti, porcelain plates, slag glass, freshwater pearls, painted metal gun miniatures, ceramic stars, brass shell casings and bullets, and epoxy paste.
